Design for Six Sigma
(DFSS) Partnerships
LTS Adds Two Strategic Partnerships
Support for DFSS
As more Tier I automotive suppliers become serious about
DFSS, LTS has expanded our capabilities. We now offer sustaining activities for
Quality Function Deployment (QFD), Design for Assembly/Design for
Manufacturability (DFA/M), Design of Experiments (DoE), Robustness Analysis,
and Design Failure Modes & Effects Analysis (DFMEA). While these are the
most common elements of DFSS activities, in some cases, structured innovation and
axiomatic
design may also be desirable. These two tool sets are particularly important
at the early stages of design—and can be considered whenever QFD reveals that
your existing concepts may be deficient in the competitive arena.
To insure that LTS can help manufacturers reach their
potential, we have concluded strategic partnerships with two experts who can,
in coordination with LTS, help you through major design challenges.
Dave Verduyn: Innovation
Leadership
With more than 20 years of experience in training and
facilitating, Mr. Verduyn has extensive, practical experience in a wide range
of methodologies and tools. Using a systematic matrix-based approach, Dave can
help design teams select the right tools for an advanced development
program—and then apply those tools in a way that is effective and efficient.
Using sets of “left brained” and “right brained” techniques, Dave has helped
dozens of design teams cut through the “fog” that often exists in early design
programs.
Dr. Basem Haik: Axiomatic Design
Axiomatic Design is a new technique
that improves functional performance in a design by controlling the complexity.
Through two fundamental design axioms, teams can learn how to balance
complexity with design vulnerability. Dr. Haik’s unique contribution to this
new methodology is based on an “axiomatic quality” approach, which yields
results that are easily integrated with the remaining activities in DFSS.
Through Axiomatic Design Project Workshops, Dr. Haik can help your teams apply
the techniques of requirements cascade and complexity reduction—which will can
lead to a controlled concept design that can then be addressed with the
remainder of the LTS DFSS toolkit.
